Hey, BigMike here! I hope you’re good.
2020 has been a wild ride so far and there are a few important things I’d like to share with you, including…
…the direction of the cannabis industry and how the economy will impact us.
Most people know that cannabis is my life.
It has been since 1983 — the year I grew my first crop and fell in love with the plant.
Over the years, I’ve overseen the cultivation of millions of cannabis plants.
I’ve dealt with law enforcement, thieves, diseases, pests, swinging pH values, and every issue you can imagine — including temperature, humidity, CO2 levels, equipment and timer failures, and all the other variables that can cause a crop to fail.
My company, Advanced Nutrients, developed the world’s first complete cannabis growing system, and today, growers in 107 countries rely on our products to get the most out of their crops.
Our team of the world’s top PhD plant scientists and I have busted our tails to bring cannabis to its true genetic potential.
And, as of right now, we’re responsible for 53 innovations that have revolutionized cannabis and cannabis cultivation.
Because of all this, we’re the most profitable company in cannabis.
In fact, if you grow or consume cannabis, you’ve benefited from something we’ve done.
Now, we also invest millions of dollars into our community.
We do this to get cannabis-friendly laws passed and to educate the public on the incredible healing powers of the plant.
We donate millions of dollars in nutrients to help ease the pain and suffering of injured war veterans, cancer patients, and children struggling with conditions no child should have to struggle with.
Through our Humanity Heroes non-profit organization, we feed and provide life-giving essentials to hundreds of thousands of people across the globe.
We recently donated 17,000 masks to homeless shelters and community organizations to help stop the spread of COVID-19 in Los Angeles.
We also invest millions in driving the science of cannabis cultivation forward.
But without the support of growers like you, NONE of this would be possible.
And for that, I say THANK YOU.
Now, there’s been a lot of chaos in the world lately, and I appreciate that you’re not letting it stop you from cultivating the best cannabis you can.
A lot of the growers who feed our nutrients to their crops rely on their crops to, in turn, feed their families.
It’s honor to play a role in this.
And with everything going on in the world right now…
…COVID-19, the recent civil unrest, and the media instilling so much fear in people…
…it’s more important than ever that we remember how much we have to be grateful for.
And one thing I’m grateful for is that the cannabis industry is recession-proof.
The crazier and more challenging the world gets, the more cannabis people consume, and the better our industry does.
And our industry is only to get stronger.
I’ve been through three recessions and each one took my company to the next level of success.
Because people LOVE cannabis.
And the plant is bringing comfort to a lot of folks as they face more uncertainty than ever.
And it’s an honor (and very humbling) to be a central part of an industry that’s providing so much happiness and relief.
Cannabis is making people’s lives better and more enjoyable.
I LOVE being part of it.
And if you grow cannabis for profits (or even to share with your friends) I appreciate that YOU are part of it as well.
Now, a few years before my first crop, I read Napoleon Hill’s classic book Think and Grow Rich.
It taught me the importance of a positive, goal-directed mindset; that within every adversity is the seed of an equal or greater benefit — a universal law that, time and again, has proven to be true.
The good — the benefits and opportunity for growth and improvement — is there if you look for it.
I’ve been to hell and back MANY times (as you’ll be able to read about in Marijuana Don, my soon-to-be-released memoir).
I can look at my life and see how all the challenges and setbacks, all the circumstances that, at the time, seemed like the worst things…
…turned out to be the best things that ever happened to me.
Had not all the “bad” shit happened (both big and small)…
• Killing my first crop
• Having a warrant issued for my arrest in 1993 for a crop that wasn’t even mine, and the manhunt that ensued
• Being arrested in 2001 for leading a 200-person cannabis operation that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police reported was doing more than $50 million a year in wholesale sales
• Being kidnapped
• Being exiled from Canada
• Being betrayed by the people closest to me
…I wouldn’t have the life I do today.
I wouldn’t have my daughter Veida.
And there’d be no Advanced Nutrients…
…or if there were, we wouldn’t be making anywhere near the impact with it that we are today.
But the fact is…
The demand for our nutrients has never been higher.
This year has been one record month after another. We’re in mass expansion mode and investing heavily in increasing production while never cutting corners on quality.
We’ve quadrupled our output and it’s about to go 10X.
Now, getting here wasn’t easy.
The road was paved with chaos and challenges.
One crisis after another.
But where there is crisis, there is also opportunity.
In fact, the Chinese word for “crisis” is composed of two characters, one signifying “danger” and the other…opportunity.
And right now, there’s more opportunity in our industry than ever before.
I’ve never been more excited about my companies, our community, our industry, and all of humanity.
The current state of our world is an opportunity for us to rise above selfishness, negativity, fear, and ignorance — above everything that’s been holding people back from living rich, full, meaningful lives.
Humanity is evolving.
And if you’re like me, you understand that’s what challenges are for.
To shine the light of awareness on where we’re weak, fearful, or ignorant, so we can grow (as individuals, an industry, and humanity).
Both the world and the cannabis industry are going to turn out better as a result of everything that’s going on.
And while we’re all undergoing this shift, we must never forget to be grateful.
Whether it’s for our family, friends, a roof over our head, health, the simple pleasures in life like good buds, being part of a recession-proof industry, blazing our own trail in life, our pets, or the fact that…
…we live in a free country (a lot of people don’t and it’s so easy to take for granted).
…our eyes, legs, and the beat of our hearts.
Gratitude is a fundamental key to happiness.
And there is so much to be grateful for and excited about right now.
I love venturing into the unknown, eager to see what’s around the next corner.
Setting and pursuing goals, taking a vision that existed only in my mind and transforming it into something real is a rush like no other—especially when our community is able to reap the rewards as well.
Whether it’s putting a smile on their face, alleviating their stress or pain, helping them grow huge yields of sweet, potent flowers…
…or helping them transcend their self-created limitations…
…to me, that’s what life’s all about.
And that’s a giant part of why I love the cannabis industry so much.
Through our cannabis, you and I are helping to heal humanity.
And I think that’s AWESOME.
